The picturesque fishing port of Es Castell is situated at the mouth of Mahon harbour, just 15 minutes from the international airport.

Steeped in military history, today the town is best known for the Mediterranean atmosphere of the many waterside restaurants and bars surrounding the cove of Calas Fons.
Many are built into caves in the walls around the harbour. They offer a wide range of items for sale from ceramics to jewellery and clothing, all in an idyllic setting.
Es Castell, has plenty to offer visitors: shopping, restaurants, market days twice a week, and the Fiesta de San Juame, at the end of July. Take a boat ride around Mahon Harbour on the local water taxi; the choices are endless.

In the central square there is a military museum (open all year round) and there are archeological remains dating from the second millenium BC at nearby Trepuco.

At night the harbour comes to life. It is an ideal place to relax with tapas, or drinks, or enjoy a memorable dinner in your favourite restaurant.
